Job Description

We're looking for a full time, live in experienced housekeeper to carry out housekeeping duties in our large home in Cobham, Surrey. The position comes with a self contained flat and a car. We are a family (husband, wife, two teenage boys and a dog).

I hope you'll take the time to read this - I know it's lengthy but I have written it so you understand exactly what the job entails and we don’t waste each others time. PLEASE don’t apply unless you satisfy the criteria outlined below.

It is essential that applicants:
• be aged 25 or over.
• be confident drivers (at least 4 years since passing driving test).
• speak, write and read English very well.
• be able to cook well.
• have had previous employment in housekeeping (not just cleaning).
• have checkable references in housekeeping.
• are legally able to work in the UK, be registered for UK tax and have a UK bank account.
• already be in the UK and available for interview.
• have good common sense, initiative and attention to detail.
• have a positive attitude.
• be reliable, honest, responsible and trustworthy.
• be fit and healthy.
• be willing/able to commit to a minimum of 1 year (after an initial trial period).
• be good with dogs and like animals.

Household duties: We have a large 3 floor house and the position involves keeping it clean and tidy. We expect work to be carried out to a high standard and with excellent attention to detail. Once you have learnt the ropes, you should be able to work efficiently with no supervision and you should use your initiative as to what needs doing and when.

Laundry: Washing and ironing clothes, bedding, towels etc. We have 2 large washing machines and 2 tumble driers.

Cleaning/Housework: Tidying, cleaning, dusting and vacuuming all rooms as required. Changing bedding and towels weekly. Common sense dictates what needs doing – frequently used rooms require more cleaning and tidying than occasionally used rooms.

Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, washing up, loading and unloading the dishwashers. Keeping a list of what shopping is required, which I usually order online, and putting it away when it’s delivered.

Cooking: Cooking dinner occasionally.

Dog: Taking our dog for a walk daily, giving her a wash if she’s dirty, brushing her and looking after her if we go away.

Driving: An automatic car will be provided. You will need to drive to a place to take the dog for a walk and, very occasionally, to collect our teenage sons from school or run an errand.

Accommodation: We provide a self contained, fully furnished flat with separate entrance (rental value £300 per week). The accommodation comprises: a double bedroom with wardrobe and chest of drawers; a sitting room with sofa, armchair, coffee table, desk, dining table with four chairs, widescreen TV, DVD player, Sky and broadband; a fully fitted kitchen with washing machine & dishwasher and a bathroom with WC & bath/shower. We pay all your utility bills.

Location: We are 1 mile from Cobham and Stoke d’Abernon railway station.

Hours: 07:00 to 18:00 – Mon to Fri with a one-hour lunch.

Salary: £250 net per week. You have no rent, utility bills or vehicle costs.

Holiday: Holiday entitlement is 4 weeks (in addition to the usual public and bank holidays) per year.
