Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised team player that considers themselves to be versatile and professional. You will be part of a small and motivated housekeeping team that is in turn part of the wider estate team. Reporting to the Assistant House Manager and under his guidance, you will quickly learn how to perform the role.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
• Daily detailed cleaning of estate properties.
• Assisting with laundry and ironing of bed linens & guest’s clothes.
• Re-stocking linen cupboards.
• Checking all services in the estate rooms are working correctly.
• Serving and preparing drinks for guests.
• Making beds and turn-down service.
• Helping with preparation of properties for visits.
• Any other ad hoc duties requested by guests or manager.

Person specification:
• Confident and professional communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals from a range of backgrounds.
• Proactive and flexible approach to work with a keen eye for detail.
• Keen to develop own skills within the private domestic staff industry and be willing to be actively involved in house service.
• Fresh & tidy appearance with no visible tattoo’s when in uniform (chino’s and polo shirt provided).

The ideal applicant will be service orientated, respecting the privacy and confidentiality of the owners and high-profile guests, willing to take direction and follow instruction. Applicants will ideally be looking for their second position within their service career to improve on their initial service experience from another private household, hotel or similar service background. This is a physically demanding job across a 200-acre estate with 30 guest bedrooms.

The position will be based on a five-day working week (Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm) but will require considerable flexibility to work over public holidays, evenings and weekends when the family and guests are in residence (currently about 50% of the year, with June & July being especially busy). Overtime will be paid for work over your contracted hours, as the days are a lot longer when guests are in residence.

Salary - £20-25k dependent on experience.

You must also have an up to date DBS and Paediatric First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain, along with a minimum of 2 last / current employer professional referees that are immediately contactable.
